Invitation to the second Aquitaine conferences on neurosciences.
Theme: ‘Insights into the Neurobiology of addiction’.

Following the success of the first conference, which was devoted to the subject of memory, the région Aquitaine is delighted to invite you to this year’s Aquitaine conference on neurosciences, which will take place in Arcachon between October 12^th and 15^th 2010, and which addresses the topic of ‘The Neurobiology of drug addiction’.

For more than 10 years now, the région Aquitaine has actively supported research and innovation, with a large proportion of its budget (around 10%) being allocated to this field each year. Aquitaine is the number one region in France in terms of money invested in research, and the region is especially active in supporting the field of neurosciences, the most visible sign of this involvement being the creation and funding of a ‘Neurocampus’ in Bordeaux.

The aim of this second Aquitaine conferences on Neurosciences is to bring together the finest neurobiologists from across the world so that they may present their most up to date research findings and debate the latest ideas and new openings in research in the field.

The number of participants is restricted to approximately 150 people in order to create a relaxed atmosphere and to encourage discussion and debate between top international scientists and young researchers. Two poster sessions will be held to enable conference participants to present their research. During the gala evening, prizes will be awarded to the three best posters by the Chancellor of the Université de Bordeaux.

As in previous years, the conference takes place in Arcachon, one of the loveliest towns in Aquitaine. A program of sightseeing activities will allow you to explore the area’s foremost attractions (the Bassin d’Arcachon, the Dune du Pyla, the ‘ville d’hiver’,and its beautiful 19^th century villas…) and sample the wonderful local cuisine (oysters, Bordeaux wines…).
